Ceaseless Wild: A Tribute to Grace & the Grenache of California
Making wine from Grenache is the work of a polyglot. To do so, as Angela Osbone, of A Tribute to Grace, does, one must keep in balance the rigorous maneuvering of sensitive vineyard and cellar work with a reverence for the ineffable. Angela teaches us that Grenache – ebullient and unbridled, in the fields, the barrel, the glass – must be confronted with intention and finesse.
This Santa Barbara County Grenache was inspired by Fonsalette from Chateau Rayas. The wine represents two very different microclimates. The first vineyard is the Highlands with 3200 feet elevation. The second vineyard is Curtis which is tucked away in Foxen Canyon. The fruit was destemmed and each lot was fermented separately and aged for 16 months in neutral French oak. The resulting wine is elegantly structured and focused, subtle berry fruits and complex expressions of earth and flowers, an excellent introduction to Angela Osborne’s style.
